Wow! What a day World Nyckelharpa Day was! It was truly amazing to see the hashtag pop up all over the place. I couldn't keep up!! I definitely need a bigger team working on it next year! But it's not over for this year. We have the Global Lille Långdans från Binsjö to mosaic video to put together. So even if you didn't play it at the time - you have a week to film yourself and send me the video now!

This week is an exciting week for us - we're going out on the road! we have some filming to do and then a lot of preparation for World Nyckelharpa Day - so I might not get as many things added as I'd have liked. So I'll star by leaving the reminder of the Lille Långdans från Bingsjö! Sunday 25th April is World Nyckelharpa so this session is dedicated to that! There was a theme of playing tunes from where you are from. So we have a pair of Viking tunes and then some English Playford collection! I hope you all have a great World Nyckelharpa Day.

The session will premier at 1pm Sunday 25th April - but as usually don't worry if you can't watch it then, it'll stay up!

This year is moving on apace and it's only two weeks to World Nyckelharpa Day! So not technically new to the site this week I'm going to just do a reminder of these two tunes!
Lille Långdans från Bingsjö - we'd like as many people playing this tune at midday UK time as possible and then edit together a mosaic of people playing it!
Klockstapelvalsen - I love Byss-Calle and decided that I'd like to make a mosaic of it - just because!

Hello!
Time to let you know the tunes for the second session! As you might have spotted we played for Medieval Music in the Dales the other week and we played quite a few Spanish Cantigas. So this week you're getting four Cantigas. Three of them played on the sienaharpa and one on the moraharpa. Of course they're all quite playable on the normal harpa.

As usual there are video lessons for each tune, but you'll need to be logged in to view those. The session is open to anyone to watch and play along with.

The session will premier at 2pm on Sunday 18th April - but as usually don't worry if you can't watch it then, it'll stay up!

Last Bit of March - Tune list

Hello!
We've got just a little bit of March left and have headed in April and these are the tunes I've added this week! We have a bunch of new videos in the pipe line. So after Playford - we're going to head off to the Medieval period for a while - watch this space!

So Sunday night I had a bit of a disaster on my main Nyckelharpa website and I corrupted it. This is a good excuse for a spring clean - but it meant that my Nyckelharpa Four a Day stopped working, so this week has mostly been about filming and restoring the Four-a-Day to fully functional on this site. It's been a lot of work!! I had always intended on replacing the lessons with only audio with video. So I replaced quite a chunk this week and hope to film the rest as soon as I can.

So this week I haven't transferred as many old tunes as I had hoped - but the Four-a-Day is now here!

After a long week, the whole of the NH4aD is now restored onto this site and a course for NH4ad C tuned and NH4aD D tuned courses separated into two different courses to prevent confusion. Next job - finish filming the lessons that only have audio! Hopefully next week!

Vicki & Jonny's Session from Studio 2 - Session 1: Playford

We're starting up the sessions again! This time we'll be filming mostly from our livestream studio - or when things get back to normal, from wherever we are! We're hoping to release two sessions a month and each session will have four tunes, probably played around four times through and each tune will have had a lesson released in the two weeks before. Plenty of time to learn them!

Right now we're doing a lot of playing for dance right now and the tunes are going to reflected in what we are working on at the time they're filmed! This session has tunes taken from the dance we did at IVFDF back in February.

The session will premier at 2pm on Sunday 4th April - but don't worry if you can't see it at the time. It'll stay up. To view the lessons you'll have to be a subscriber to the site, but it's free access to listen and play along to the session. If you'e not a subscriber you might like to send a donation our way.
