Welcome to the Dance Entrance page to the Virtual Music Room. You'll notice that when this site was set up it was aimed very much at nyckelharpa teaching. Gradually over time this has changed. So this is your front page dedicated to dance. This is where I'll try to put the road map of where you can find anything remotely dance related! Whether you're a caller, a player or a dancer!
As a Dance Tier subscriber I will send you a zip file of audio mp3s. These aren't kept on the website, so if you'd like them just drop me a line. You will also be emailed the videos from all the Symmetry dances and any live dances that we record. You will get the mp3s of the tunes. You can also request a tune. Just let us know the tune name, X-through and speed.
You can sign up as a Dance Tier member using Paypal or Patreon. The links are on the right hand side of every page. You get full access to the hole site however you sign up and the cost is roughly the same.
Symmetry Zoom Dances - we play for Symmetry twice a month and we record these and send a link out to donators or subscribers after each dance. If you'd like the music from these dances let me know and I will add you to the list to be sent them. You can just watch these videos, you can play-along with the dots provided or you can dance. (But there are no dance instructions included). This link takes you to the index page which shows which dances/tunes have been done. If you'd like something specific give me a shout! The audio is clean audio from these so callers can use the mp3s for calling to.
Live Dances - sometimes I put the camera up and we film a live dance. They are usually costume Playford or Regency Balls. But I can film ECD dances if it's requested! Mostly these are live audio and I am not able to send these as clean mp3s. However they can be used for listening and if there is a specific tune you'd like. We can re-record tunes though.
Misc Play-Along - This is where all the playlong videos are. But they're not all dance related. (They include the areas listed above.
Vicki & Jonny's Tunes - we have written a lot of tunes and most of them are quite danceable! We'd love dances to be written to the tunes! This area is a little under construction. We've written a lot of music and it's taking time over a period of nearly 30 years so it's taking time to locate all of it and then put it into some sort of order without losing any of it!
Playford in Shorts - 2023 was the anniversary of John Playfords Birth. So Vicki celebrated this by publishing the whole of the first edition as YouTube shorts. This has been expanded to include the second edition.
