Hello! What's new? The camera was busy last week with the session and lots of new lessons on double bass, flute and Scottish smallpipes. Right now my focus is on creating something really special for Christmas. You'll have to wait and find out closer to the time!
Hello! It's session time! We've got a little behind on the sessions since the summer with workshops and gigs - but hopefully we're back on track for the rest of the year! I have just come back from teaching at Burg Fürsteneck and I promised everyone in my group that I would do a session with the tunes I taught. I love all the tunes and couldn't choose which to put in the session, so I'm going to do them all over two sessions. This is part 1!
Hello! After an incredibly busy last 6 weeks we plan on filming a few sessions this week. I enjoyed the tunes so much at Fürsteneck that our plan is to make two sessions with these tunes. The next session after that will be the tunes I taught at Halsway and then finally my plan is for a week of jigs! This jig session has been delayed a little as it was planned in for September. Then we're into the Christmas season, so expect Christmas for a few weeks after that! So what is going to be in the session?
A new subscriber extra video has been put up. To find out anything about this video you need to be a subscriber and go visit the subscriber extra section of the website!
I'm looking forward to the next session coming this Sunday! See you there! :)) Vicki
Hello! I'm back from Germany and teaching at the International Days of Nyckelharpa at Burg Fürsteneck. It was amazing! All the preparation and worry about the travel was very much worth it to see so many nyckelharpa players and be able to teach to a room of real live people again! I can now reveal what it is that I taught. So my complete list is as follows. I've had the camera out this week since I came back and using the magic of green screen have taught these tunes in the actual room I was teaching in at Fürsteneck!
Hello! It's all systems go, I'm off to Germany to teach at the amazing Burg Fürsteneck. I have a bunch of tunes ready and waiting to be taught. My theme is dance and I'm going to work my way from Playford's 1651 Dancing Master, then to ceilidh and ending up with Contra dance. I've tried to focus on groove and quite a lot of the tunes that I've chosen we played at dance this weekend! So I don't give anything away for Fürsteneck the tunes listed below all complete the Halsway Session number 9 - Jonny's Dance tunes, there is only one tune in the list below that I will be teaching at Fürsteneck and that is Doodle Oak Cloggers! I've included the complete list of tunes and a link to the dots too.
Once I get back from Germany I'll be getting the camera out to do some filming of the new tunes I taught and we will get back to the next session from Studio 2! Enjoy! :)) Vicki
Hello! So it's been a lot of video editing from Halsway this week. Three videos went out last week and now here are the other three! I taught everyone Christina Nilsson's Vals with an accompaniment. So I have split this lesson into the melody for Tune Friday and then the accompaniment is in the Bowing/String Crossing technique section.
What else will we get this week? Not sure yet - there's a lot of prep to do for teaching at Fürsteneck. I'm very excited to be going over to Germany and I just hope that my travel tests are C-19 negative! I have 5 days to go and my fingers are tightly crossed that this entry doesn't change to a disappointed stay at home isolation. These next two weeks are very busy - so a positive test will mess with a lot of events. The video below is from one of the projects this week... :)) Vicki
Hello! Wow what a weekend! It was amazing to be teaching at Halsway Manor again to so many wonderful nyckelharpa players. As you can imagine it's been a busy old time here with a lot of preparations and then after event catching up. I've filmed the tunes that I taught and and in the middle of editing and uploading them to YouTube. These are all completely new tunes to the site. 🙂 This week we have three tunes that I taught. The others will come next week.
No flute or pipe tunes this week - it's been full on with Halsway! For a fuller report on Halsway go and visit the blog entry on the main website -> Click Here!
As soon as I'm done with this blog entry it's straight over to preparing for the nyckelharpa teaching weekend at Burg Fürsteneck in less than two weeks time. Lots to do!! :)) Vicki
Hello! It's Halsway week! That means that I've been putting together some tunes to be teaching at the weekend. It does mean that I've been very busy learning them and making lots of preparations. But rest assured there will be videos of all the tunes I'm teaching this weekend over the next couple of weeks! So what is new this week?
Hello! It's all systems go here now in the count down to the mega weekend at Halsway Manor. There is so much preparation to do and I need to decide what I am going to teach. I plan on filming the next session at Halsway - just like the last time we were there. So I'll make sure I decide this week which tunes are going to be in the session so I can get them out to people to brush up on! In the meantime - what's new this week? It's all Swedish tunes this week to offset all the Playford from last week!
Hello! The next session is ready to go. It will go out this coming Sunday at 2pm as usual and then stay up. So this week is all dedicated to getting the new tunes up! Half Hannekin has been moved from the old site and I filmed the other five on Monday night and they're all now up and ready for you!
